A Free Haircut

Image
It's hard to come up with exciting emails during these times, but I tried to do my best haha. We just focused a lot on reaching out to members and also doing lots of exercising, having some good times doing that! Luckily the week was much much better than last week.   Tuesday (Apr 21): Today was the day that the bathroom got cleaned. I put in a grind in the morning to scrub the floors, the bathtub/shower, the toilet, and the sink. And now we can officially say the whole flat is cleaned up and looking great, now just gotta maintain it. The zone leaders came to do a device audit this morning and then like an hour afterward they found out they actually weren't supposed to travel for that haha. Oh well, at least we saw some new faces. We did some work and exercise, and a member dropped off dinner for us tonight so we were stoked about that and it tasted great! Pretty good day.   Wednesday: Well it was a fun day haha. I woke up in the morning just absolutely sick of having lon...

Guildford

Image
My new area of Guildford got off to a rough start in terms of the flat and getting food, but wow the area is really cool. I have lots of cool pictures to send from this week of things we went to that are all within only 1 mile of where we live. This place is beautiful and I'm really happy to be here!   Tuesday (April 14): Well today was by far the most interesting day of transfers, and honestly it was one of the hardest days that I had in the mission for a long time. The way we did transfers was organized by President and Sister Checketts and the few remaining senior couples to drive each missionary who needed to be transferred, so there was no public transport taken whatsoever, and we all wore facemasks inside the car as well. So that was pretty fun. By the time I arrived to my new area in Guildford it was super late, and the flat was an absolute mess! And even worse, zero food, and close to zero cleaning supplies as well. So we spent the evening just cleaning down e...

18 Months 🔥

Image
Crazy week and crazy times! This week was pretty decent because it was filled with some different activities so it was good to have a few events going on.   On Tuesday we had interviews with President and Sister Checketts, and it was great to talk about conference and about how the transfer has been in lockdown. Wednesday we had a zoom call MLC which was pretty good, it was definitely a bit long though because it went from 10 until 3 and 5 hours on a video call give us a big headache afterwards! Also other exciting news from this week is that I hit my 18 month mark in the mission! I was able to burn a pair of trousers in order to celebrate the occasion.   When I left home they were pants, now they are trousers. 18 months! Apart from that the rest of the week was filled with pretty normal isolation type things. Teaching a few video lessons, having some good study time, doing some phone finding, and also a bit of card games and chess. And of course like usual t...

Easter Update

Image
To the parents of our dear Sisters and Elders in the ELM,   This evening I ask myself, “What would I want to know if my child was serving a mission in the UK, where officials report that the coronavirus appears to be leveling off but is still a significant concern?”    I will first start with the small and simple things we are doing to enhance your missionary’s physical and mental well-being.   We are strictly enforcing the policy of the European Area Presidency and the Prime Minister—STAY HOME. Missionaries are allowed to go out once a day to get some fresh air and exercise. They may shop occasionally for essentials. The stores are enforcing spacing, and often there are lines to get into them. We have permission for missionaries to use some of the chapels (not all) three hours during the day. They must be in walking distance of the chapel as there is a no-use policy for public transportation.   President Checketts and I are doing our interviews...

General Conference

Image
Week 3 of lockdown went pretty quickly. Like the first week im not really going to separate it into days because everything is kinda just all blended together right now. But it was a pretty good week.   Of course the highlight of the week was general conference at the end! Here in England we are 7 hours ahead of Utah's time so the sessions were at 5pm and 9pm. We stayed up to watch both of those sessions from a live stream in our flat both Saturday and Sunday, then we watched the Saturday evening session on Sunday morning because we were asleep for that one! I absolutely loved the focus of conference and especially the new proclamation about the ongoing restoration of the gospel! Let me tell you what, we are so blessed to have living apostles and prophets to direct us here on the Earth today. I truly love President Nelson and all the other leaders in the church. We received some incredible guidance on what our focus should be about, especially during these times. I know that if we ...

General Conference Schedule

Our Dear Sisters, Elders of the England London Mission: The General Conference of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints will be held this coming weekend and we wanted to give you some encouragement and the schedule for you to look forward to. This will be a moving and special experience for us all as we receive counsel from Living Prophets and Apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ--most notably, our Prophet: Russell M. Nelson. Please prepare your hearts and minds to receive revelation from the hours of doctrine, music, and testimony that you will hear. I testify that  the Lord will bless and be with you all. The Mission Field is a glorious place to be during Conference. Your heart is attuned to hear the Spirit and because of your personal study, you will recognize the scriptures and stories quoted . We pray that you will be greatly blessed. Because you will be able to stream General Conference to your flats, it will be easy to not be at your best as the sessions unfold. ...
