Guildford
Tuesday (April 14): Well today was by far the most interesting day of transfers, and honestly it was one of the hardest days that I had in the mission for a long time. The way we did transfers was organized by President and Sister Checketts and the few remaining senior couples to drive each missionary who needed to be transferred, so there was no public transport taken whatsoever, and we all wore facemasks inside the car as well. So that was pretty fun. By the time I arrived to my new area in Guildford it was super late, and the flat was an absolute mess! And even worse, zero food, and close to zero cleaning supplies as well. So we spent the evening just cleaning down everything in the flat with the package of cleaning wipes that I brought with me (Thank goodness) until we ran out, and it was too late to buy any food so we just had to go to sleep on an empty stomach. It was a really rough day for sure for me.
Wednesday: Well our first priority today was to buy food, unfortunately, there is only one grocery store close within 2 miles that is big enough to actually get the amount of food and things that we needed, and it's pretty expensive, so we decided to go for a nice 2.5 mile jog to the cheaper grocery store, which was really nice, until we bought all of our food and then realized we had some massive sacks of food that we needed to walk and carry for 2.5 miles. Didn't really think that one through! So we had to pray and ponder how to get home. And unfortunately we didn't really have any contacts in our phone since it's a new phone number so we weren't sure who to call. But we were blessed that the ward mission leader reached out to us and so we called him to ask if he knew someone who could pick us up. Anyways to make a long story short we got picked up and made it home, then spent a good portion of the rest of the day cleaning, except the store didn't have any cleaning wipes so we had to use baby wipes haha. Again, it was a tough day, but we did have food to eat so I went to bed with food in my stomach and that was such a huge blessing.
Thursday: Got right back to work on using those baby wipes to clean this place up, and by the end of the day we were able to finish cleaning everything in the flat except the bathroom, because we didn't really have much cleaning supplies so we will have to finish that next week. I felt a huge relief when we got that finished up. It was a massive burden lifted off my shoulders! We spent the rest of the day reaching out to many members and trying to do some online Proselyting as well. Nothing else too big to talk about.
Friday & Saturday: These days were pretty much the same. Luckily not too much cleaning, but we just focused a lot on trying to reach out to members, and as well had some great studies and good exercise. It was a cool day.
Sunday: This was a great day because I had a sacrament service with my family, and we also had sacrament services with some other members both active and less active so it was sick. Some members came and dropped off a few treats and food so that was fantastic!
Overall the first half of the week was pretty rough, but the second half was good. Now we are pretty well adjusted and we have mostly everything that we need so we should survive and this week should definitely be much better. Love y'all so much and I hope everything is going well!
