Some New Sights and Elder Kearon
This week was the coldest one we have had for a long time. But now it's March so hopefully that means from here on out the temperature could start to rise little by little. It was a really busy week as well which makes things go quick.
Tuesday (Feb 25): Today we had our district meeting in the morning, got a bit of lunch, and then headed out to go finding and we were supposed to teach a lesson but the guy didn't show up. After that we had to finish up a presentation for a meeting that we had in the evening, and when we got that all ready to go we had to travel in to Hyde Park so that we could have a quarterly correlation meeting with the Stake Presidency and President Checketts. The meeting was pretty cool, when it finished up we travelled back home to have a bit of dinner that was our day.
Wednesday: Headed to another district meeting of the zone this morning, and after which we travelled into central London to meet up with the Tec Elders to do a little project we were trying out. They made a Facebook page for the mission and wanted to get a video of some missionaries talking to people on the street to post on the page, so we were the Elders for the job. We spent a few hours there talking to people and recording some of the convos so that they could make the video. It was a whole lot of fun and we had some good times. Then we travelled back to our area so that we could do a little bit of stopping by returning members and teach a lesson to a cool family that we are working with.
Thursday: Since there was one district that we weren't able to go to their district meeting this week, we thought it would be cool to do a finding blitz with them, so we met up with the Elders and sisters at a place where they chose and we did some finding with them. It was a good time, just freezing cold, and then we came back to eat lunch and do weekly planning. When that finished we headed outside to hit the street and do more finding. And then we headed over to Stratford to do a baptismal interview in the evening for a couple that the Elders have been teaching who is getting baptised this weekend. We got home a little bit later because of travels but it was definitely for a good reason.
Friday: Today we had exchanges with the Elders serving in the Whitechapel area. I spent the day in Whitechapel with Elder Liddell from Draper, Utah. Their area covers pretty much all of central London so of course it's cool to see some pretty neat things while we are traveling around and contacting people.
And that's what we spent most of our time doing. It is always nice to spend some time in a different area because you can see new things so I enjoyed the day. In the evening we had a dinner appointment with an African family from their ward and the food was so spicy oh my goodness. I can't handle spicy foods like at all! After the DA we met back up with the others and headed home our separate ways.
Saturday: Today was super awesome, because we had a mission gathering since Elder Kearon from the presidency of the seventy came to speak to us. He is originally from London as well so it's even more cool. We met up early in the morning, took a mission picture in the rain, and then had a devotional for a couple hours. He was really entertaining I didn't even feel like it was a general authority speaking to us it felt more like a show haha. Of course I learned a lot but it was a very fun way of presenting information. He is a super cool guy. After the devotional we were provided with a sack lunch and then we travelled back to our areas. Where we went out to stop by a member who is preparing to go towards the temple, and then spent a few hours finding outside, and then we worked on some preparation for the MLC that we are going to have next week, then came home for dinner.
Sunday: Fast Sunday was alright today. Pretty much everybody who got up to share their testimony said something about corona virus 😂 Then after church we played a bit of football with some of the kids which was fun. Afterwards we had to work on preparation for our MLC next week, then we headed over to the Brazilian members home for lunch, which is always incredible but especially on fast Sundays. And wow the food was good! We spent some time there and then we left to go to Seven Sisters and we spent the rest of the night finding in that area. All in all it was a cool day.
That's all from me. I hope and pray everyone is doing well and is happy with life. It would be good to hear how things are going. Love y'all!
