A Baptism, Some Amazing Food and a Little Country Music
Last week of the transfer has come and gone. We received our calls and both my companion and I are staying together. This is going to be my 7th transfer in this zone which means it will be a good 10 months since I served in a different zone. The crazy thing though is that they are adding another set of Elders into our area, which means we are sharing the flat now. Hopefully that means we will have a super fun time!
Tuesday (Jan 21): Started the day off with our district meeting, and after that had lunch, then went to do some finding. Afterward we traveled back to the chapel so we could have our video call interviews with President Checketts. Then we went to do returning member stop bys and actually we perfectly ran into a returning member on the street right as we were about to go home. She said she had prayed in the morning to ask God if she should start coming back to church and then we met her on the street. It was really great!
Wednesday: Went to another district meeting in the zone today, then we came back eating lunch on the train, and then went out finding. Then we went to go teach a family who are returning members, and it was really nice to be in their home. They were so kind and hopefully we can work with them a little more. And our friend had her baptismal interview tonight and she passed so everything is good to go for the baptism on Sunday!
Thursday: This morning we had weekly planning, ate lunch, and then prepared the baptismal program for this weekend. Then we went to do some service for a member in the ward who asked for some help in the Garden.
We spent a few hours there and trimmed up some streets and it was lots of fun. Then we met with our friend who is getting baptized yet again today to teach a little bit about the temple and make sure she keeps feeling the spirit leading up to her baptism. Then we went home to eat dinner and it was a great day.
Friday: Lets go, it was AP exchange today which means I spent the day in central London. I could sum up the day basically just by saying we hit the streets hard! I had a solid 5 hours of street contacting today and it honestly went by pretty quick. We were able to talk to a lot of cool people and the weather was decent so that makes the time go by fast. We didn't spend the night there though because the APs had to work on transfers with President. So we headed back home at about 7:30 and traveled back for the night. It was honestly a good time.
Saturday: This morning we finished up the baptismal program went finding, ate lunch, and then went out to do some more finding. Then we were supposed to have a lesson but that didn't end up happening so it was back on the grind. We then headed over to a little cafe where we were going to meet somebody who has been taught by missionaries previously and he wanted to talk to us. It was so sad because this guy was so heartfelt and sincere about his desire to come to church and be baptized but he comes from a Muslim background and his family has already threatened him. My heart was full for this man. After we talked to him we did a few returning member stop bys and then traveled home.
Sunday: Honestly one of the greatest Sundays in a long time. Why was it so great? Well, church was pretty good, 2 recent converts received the Aaronic Priesthood and I was able to take part in that. Then after church we had the baptismal service of our friend we have been teaching for a while.
That was fantastic, and then after that we had a lunch appointment with this super cool lady in the ward. She made some amazing food, played country music in the background, and we played a few games, even danced at the end haha. Oh boy it was a party. She was so cool. And in the evening time we went to visit a very nice family in the ward that is starting to come back to church. So honestly everything today was so so good. I couldn't have asked for anything better.
That's all from me. I hope everyone is doing great. I'm super thankful for all the prayers and support. We've been able to see miracles big and small, and I know that part of that comes from your prayers and faith. You're all great, until next week!
