The Temple and a Freezing Cold Baptism

This week just felt like one of the longest weeks I have had in a long time. With all the anticipation leading up to transfers, Christmas soon, and also knowing I was going to the temple towards the end of the week. It was so long! The weather didn't exactly help either, but we still had some good times and it's great to be a missionary in December!

Tuesday (Dec 10): Today was an absolute grind. We started off by working the Giving Machines in Hyde Park, and it's normally a 2 hour shift but the missionaries who were supposed to take our place were late and we ended up working for 2 and a half hours instead. We also just had some pretty rough weather with lots of wind and rain the whole day too. Other than the morning we just did more finding back in our area, as well as giving a blessing to a sick member from the ward. That's about all from today.

Wednesday: Exchanges with the Stratford Elders today! I went with Elder Boyack who's a really new missionary and we spent the day in Stratford. Had a good day full of pretty much everything, we studied, stopped by returning members whilst contacting people along the way, also taught someone English, and had pizza for dinner. Its always fun to be back in an area you spent so much time at, and I think it was a pretty good day.

Thursday: It was another day full of wind, rain, and freeze your buns off cold. But our friend had his baptismal interview and passed it so that's very exciting! We also did a Light the World Blitz as a district which was a blast and we had so much fun doing that, but man was it chilly, then we had lunch together as a district, and we had to get some things sorted out for the temple tomorrow as well so that took up a bit of time. Then we just did our comp study and headed home for dinner. The day was pretty fun regardless of the freezingness.

Friday: What an amazing day! We were so blessed to go and spend the day at the temple for zone conference. Had to leave our flat by 7:30am in order to make it there by 9am, and then we just had a nice little devotional with some music and good talks, and then we went into the temple to do an endowment session.

When we finished that we had a delicious meal that was basically like Thanksgiving so I was just having the time of my life.

After we all finished eating we traveled back home to our areas and called it a night. The temple was amazing!

Saturday: Yet another long day, started out by working at the Giving Machines again. After our shift we went to get a yummy burrito for lunch then we headed back to the chapel and the boiler wasn't working so we spent a solid few hours calling so many different people and trying so many different things to get it up and running again but to no avail. We really wanted to get it fixed because we are going to be having a baptism tomorrow but we just concluded that we may end up having to do a cold one. We'll see how that goes! So we talked to some people outside for a little bit and also did a comp study before coming back home for the night.

Sunday: Wow it was an interesting day. First of all the boiler in the chapel wasn't working at all, so not only did we have cold church but we also had a baptism today and the water wasn't hot either. We spent a solid hour before church and during church just boiling pots of water and pouring them into the font to try and even out the cold water, but it didn't really do much. Our friend still wanted to be baptized though so we went through with it.

I was the one doing the baptism and man it was really cold! Thankfully we didn't have to stay in there for too long. After the baptismal service we went over to the Brazilian member's home for some food and a good time like always. Then tonight we got our transfer calls and found out I was going to be staying in Lea Valley and Elder Hathaway is moving to Oxford. My new companion is Elder Grimaldi from Brazil, and I'll be training him as a new Zone Leader.

What a crazy fun week and transfer. This transfer we were so blessed to help 3 people enter the waters of baptism, and we just had a blast, I'm so grateful for these amazing past 3 months and now it's time to move into Christmas and 2020, let's go!
