Giving Machines
This week I spent hardly any time in my actual area because there was just so much going on. It went so quickly but I feel like I was hardly able to improve our area that much. Light the World has been pretty fun though especially the blessing of having a Giving Machine in the mission. It's been awesome!
Tuesday (Dec 3): Today was lots of fun. We went into Hyde Park for the unveiling of the giving machines for Light the World and we had a really cool ceremony with all the missionaries currently serving in a London Zone. We also sang for about 2 hours straight outside to try and attract some extra attention and make it cooler. Then we had hot chocolate and district meeting in Hyde Park. After that we finally got to eat lunch and everyone was starving so you already know we went to 5 Guys. Then tonight Elder Hathaway and I were still feeling the music vibe from this morning so we wheeled out the piano outside the church and one of us played the piano while the other contacted people, we only know like 2 songs each haha but it worked pretty well and we had a lot of fun.
Wednesday: Not a super eventful day, we had MLC today so I mostly spent the whole day on Hyde Park with the other zone leaders and STL's and it was mostly focused on trying to finish out the year strong and doing everything we can to achieve our mission goal of 555 baptisms. That's about all to say from today.
Thursday: Today was a day of grinding for sure. We had a district meeting in the morning and then we also were able to work the giving machines and try to bring people to check them out and donate for 2 hours.
It was so much fun though! After our shift we headed back to our area where we did guess what? More street contacting, also there was a member who asked us if we could give her a blessing so we traveled there to do that and just contacted people along the way. Apart from that our day was pretty much done.
Friday: Well I had exchanges with the AP's today and we were in a 4 Elder companionship so we had a blast and just spent the whole first half of the day lighting up the streets and doing finding.
We went to an awesome place in central London called Temple station where there is a cool bridge that we contacted a bunch of university students on and had a great time. Then later in the day we had a comp study, taught a lesson to someone from Thailand, and then played basketball for a couple hours with a bunch of non members. Honestly it was a really fun day but also really exhausting.
Saturday: Well we had a 10 Elder flat last night so you already know that means not a lot of sleep. Plus we woke up early at 5:30 today to play some ball at the Hyde Park Chapel and it was fun, but the lack of sleep hit me pretty hard throughout the day. It's tough to be a missionary with limited sleep. We still grinded today though, had a fun DLC meeting with the district and then spent some time on the streets and doing our studies. It was a pretty nice day though so it felt good.
Sunday: Today was a basic Sunday, our friend came to church again and we taught him and reviewed the baptismal interview questions so now he should hopefully be ready and able to be baptized next weekend! Let's go! Anyhow we had a good language study with the new Sister missionary in our area to help with her English a bit, then we went to the Brazilian members house for a nice late lunch/early dinner.
We spent a bit of time there and then just spent the rest of the night making calls to different missionaries for correlating and reviewing the week. It was pretty solid.
I'm thankful for the wonderful blessing to be able to be serving the Lord, especially at this sacred time of year where our minds are evermore focused on him. I love him, and I love what I get to do! I hope and pray that each of you find ways to make your Holidays centered and focused on Christ, for he truly is the reason for the season! I love you all, until next time.
