Unexpected Sunday Nap

It was one of those weird weeks where it felt really fast but it also felt like it drug out both at the same time. So I guess things could have been better but also could have been worse. We were so busy this week and I felt like we hardly had any time to do work in our area together.

Tuesday (Nov 12): We had district meeting to start off the week. Then we had lunch and went to teach one of our friends we have been working with the past few weeks. The lesson didn't exactly go as planned, he had some concerns with the word of wisdom so we are focusing on helping him gain a testimony of the Book of Mormon and a living prophet. We also went out street contacting and had companionship study, before stopping by a members house who had cooked some food for us and asked us to pick it up. We then headed home to get some sleep.

Wednesday: We had exchanges with one of the district leaders today and I ended up going with Elder Liddell, a relatively newer missionary, so it was fun to spend the day with him. We were in Lea Valley together and our day was pretty full of appointments but most of them ended up getting canceled which is just the way the cookie crumbles. So we basically spent the day doing finding and visiting returning members. We also had pizza for dinner tonight and then we had our ward study class. All the companionships that participated in the exchange ended up staying at our flat tonight too, so we had 6 Elders and it was a bit of a party. Let's just say we didn't fall asleep super early, and I totally felt it the next day.

Thursday: Yep, I spent most the day being exhausted. But we did go to the other District meeting in the zone and then we all were feeling pretty posh so we hit up the 5 Guys in South Kensington for lunch. After the deed was done we came back to our area to help do some service for a member who needed help moving furniture around because she was getting a new couch. We helped with that and she cooked us food as well. So at this point I'm pretty full. We had another appointment with a member tonight also and guess what, she cooked us a big old dinner as well. Oh man I just felt bloated today. But hey it's better to have too much food than not enough I guess! But it was a great day and we definitely ate well.

Friday: Well we had an interesting day. We went to the chapel in the morning and we were going to do weekly planning and then someone we are teaching at the moment just randomly showed up a church and asked us if she could meet with us before she goes out of town for the next week. Which normally you would think is a good thing, but she hardly speaks any English so any lesson we do takes about an hour just to teach one or two basic principles. It requires a lot of patience haha. But we did teach her and it was pretty good. Then we ate lunch and traveled to yet another lesson with a girl we had meet a couple weeks ago. It wasn't the best lesson but it went ok, and we came back to the church to finish our planning and study. Tonight we also had the ward games night and I was just killing it in ping pong. It was such a fun time, and the day went by really quickly, so it's pretty great.

Saturday: It was a rough one today. We started out going finding near the chapel and just got wrecked. Everyone ignoring us, but we did go back to the member's house who got a new couch and helped her move it in and then she made lunch again, so that was very nice. After that we went back to the chapel to try and go finding again and yet another few hours spent just getting totally ignored and feeling like a waste of time. Trying to find people to teach on Saturday is so difficult because nobody wants to spend time on their weekend talking to 2 random Americans who are trying to teach people about God. But we did our part and worked hard so I guess there isn't much more we could have done. Luckily we did have a dinner appointment tonight with a recent convert and he cooked us some really good Filipino food called Chicken Adobo.
Dinner of Adobo and Book of Mormon videos with a recent convert

It was definitely yummy. And we watched one of the Book of Mormon videos together because he hasn't seen any of them yet. Then we came home at the end of a long day, thankfully we finished it off with a good member appointment though.

Sunday: It wasn't an extremely eventful Sunday, we had church in the morning, and one of our friends that we found this week came along with us and he said that he enjoyed it so that's good. Our Sunday school lesson they basically talked about the temple for most of the time so not my first choice of topic for a new friend coming for the first time, we'll see what his questions are when we meet him this week haha. After church we had ward council and I can't believe how long they spent talking about clean up duties for a ward Christmas party that was coming up in literally 5 weeks, it was crazy 😂 After church we went over to the Brazilian member's home as she always has us on Sunday. She made a vegetable soup which wasn't exactly my first choice but it was still ok. We offered to help cook but she didn't want us to help (we were too slow last week!) and told us to just hang out on the couch, so we may have fallen asleep while waiting haha (don't worry there's a picture).

Tonight I had to make a bunch of phone calls to various missionaries for some things that we needed to talk about and then it was time to sleep.

Well, there it is, we are looking forward to hopefully a little more success in this upcoming week, but we do what we can and know the Lord will bless us for our efforts. Hope y'all have a great week and enjoy the last week before Thanksgiving, the best holiday ever! Love you all.
