A Week Full of Ups and Downs
Such a crazy week. Ended up being back in a trio again and a lot of cool stuff and rough stuff happened all at once haha. But wow we were really blessed and life is pretty good. We had transfer calls on Sunday and I'm staying here in Lea Valley with Elder Hathaway. And our 3rd companion Elder Hatch is moving to a new area.
Tuesday (Oct 29): It was a long day. We had district meeting in Stratford today, and then we got lunch and spent mostly the whole day in Stratford spending time in their area to help them out with whatever they wanted. It was pretty cool but I just got completely wrecked and we did finding for about 3 hours and I just found nobody who would talk. When we finished there and traveled back to our area we did more finding outside the chapel to try and find someone who wanted to come in and play ping pong with us. Thankfully we found someone and we played for about the last 30 mins. It made for a long day so we ordered pizza for dinner and that was pretty good.
Wednesday: Today we went to pick up Elder Hatch again from his Surgery. Let me just say the priesthood is powerful and when God's will is manifested through our faith miracles can really happen. He had to get a knee surgery and within 6 days he was walking around with no crutches so he was able to come pack and be with us. We had a few lessons and did finding before having our ward study class in the evening.
Thursday: Back at it again with a full day in the trio life. And it was also Halloween which was cool. They don't really celebrate it very much over here compared to in the states, but it was still fun thinking about how it was my last Halloween away from home! Haha we told one of the people we are teaching we were going to have a Halloween party as a joke and she showed up at the chapel and she was like, ""Where's the party!?" We played ping pong with her for a bit and I think she had fun so hopefully it was a decent enough party. The next thing we did was go finding for another solid 3 hours straight and it kind of got me dead again. Then we spent a few hours stopping by returning members before heading home at the end of the day.
Friday: Oh man this day really dragged on. We did teach a lesson in the morning that was good. But then we were also supposed to have 2 other lessons and a DA but all of those canceled on us. Things were pretty rough so we went out to get some good lunch and then me and Elder Hatch had to do some prep for MLC that's coming up. All in all it was a long day and all 3 of us just got straight up rejected the whole time. But we did have a ward games night and it was pretty fun so that's really good.
Saturday: It was a pretty wild day. We left our flat at about 9am because we taught a lesson to a guy from Nigeria who bought us a nice cup of hot chocolate. Then we did a bit of studies before heading out to a recent converts house. He actually made us Fish and Chips for lunch haha so I drenched that thing in ketchup to help even out the flavour. And the Sisters actually had a baptism today as well so we supported them in that. I had to conduct the baptism as well as play the closing song in the program (I can only play one hymn haha). But that was lots of fun and baptisms are always really great. There was also a really fun ward activity tonight where we like decorated cakes and muffins and fun things like that and then all got eat them so that was really cool!
Sunday: What a Sunday full of miracles! Well today was fast Sunday and we all know church on fast Sundays is interesting. But today there was a less active family that came to church and said that they had 2 kids are 11 and 9 who haven't been baptized yet and they want them to be baptized in a few weeks. So you better believe we were just stoked out of our minds! And then after church these 3 random guys from Maldova showed up and asked us when the services are on Sundays because they have been looking for a church to come to. So hype!!! Then we went to a members house for an early dinner and that food was just so good. Afterward we traveled about 20 miles clear up to Watford to go to the special "Why I Belive Devotional" that our mission does every Fast Sunday. It's all about recent converts who share their story and why they got baptized. It was a super cool devotional and we enjoyed it. It went a little late though and we didn't get back home until about 10:30 so we were pretty exhausted, but it was a lot of fun!
It was a week full of ups and downs but it ended off so incredibly good that I'm just happy as can be. There's just so much good in life and the more we focus on it, the happier we become. Love you all so much! Talk to you next week.
