Emergency Transfer to Lea Valley

So this week was a crazy one. Literally right after P day was over we got a call from President Checketts and we had to move areas in the middle of the transfer because of some things that they had to switch around in the mission. So I spent the whole week in a trio, in a different area, and it's just been super crazy.

Tuesday (Oct 15): Well on Monday night after P day we received a call from President Checketts saying that there needs to be an emergency transfer, and that both my companion and I would be moving to the other area in the district. But not only that, we are now in a trio. So we had to pack everything up last night and then this morning head into Hyde Park to meet up with our other companion. So it's me, Elder Hathaway, and now Elder Hatch who is the other zone leader in our zone. They provided lunch for us and then we headed back to our area. Which is called Lea Valley. We had a lesson with a guy who just wanted to try and prove the Book of Mormon wrong the whole time it was actually pretty funny. And then we went out to stop by a lot of returning members homes whilst talking to people along the way, and that was the day.

Wednesday: Woke up bright and early to play some basketball in the morning, it was fun but we pretty much played in the dark the whole time because the sun doesn't come out until around 7:15 here now. Today we had a really busy day full of lots of appointments. We taught a lady in the morning a bit of English and the Plan of Salvation. We also visited a recent convert here and played some ping pong with him, that was a lot of fun. Then headed out and went finding for a bit before having to make our way to the chapel for a correlation meeting with the Elders Quorum President. After which, the ward had a bible study class which we attended and that was our night.

Thursday: Our day was pretty boring. We spent from 10am until about 4 in Hyde Park for the 3 week new missionary meeting that we went to for Elder Hathaway.  At the end of that meeting though we had to go up to the top of the building to grab some supplies, and we actually got stuck in the elevator for 20 minutes haha!
The doors wouldn't open and they had to call like the fire department to come help get us out it was crazy and fun lol. When we headed back to our area there was a really nice lady from Bulgaria that we met up with and taught a lesson and now she is on date for baptism so let's go. Then in the evening Elder Hatch and I needed to prepare for interviews tomorrow since we are partially in charge of it.

Friday: We had interviews with President and Sister Checketts today for our zone. It went really well. Our lunch consisted of Papa John's and brownies, so can't complain too much about that! President and one of our companions, Elder Hatch, had to leave towards the end to go to a doctor's appointment because Elder Hatch may end up needing to get Surgery, and so me and Elder Hathaway stayed at Hyde Park and just did a comp study for a bit until they made it back from the appointment. The best part is that President Checketts bought all 3 of us 5 Guys before we headed back to our area.
So wow that was a party! We ate good Burgers and just talked to him about sports. Such a nice time. It took us forever to get back home because one of the underground lines wasn't working properly, so by the time we made it home we just did weekly planning and then our day was through.

Saturday: Today was really quick. We had 3 lessons and also a Saturday night session of Stake conference in Hyde Park. One of our lessons was just super awesome though. We had a first lesson with this guy from Congo, and wow he was just super open to everything and right when we were about to extend a baptismal date to him, one of his friends just came into the house and that didn't really work out the way we hoped. But, she turned out to be an atheist and we actually taught her how to pray and she ended up praying at the end of our lesson, for the first time in her life! It was really neat. Next week we will visit again and hopefully he will be able to then be on date for baptism. Stake conference was really great, and when that was all said and done we headed home and made a bunch of chicken and rice to eat for dinner which was really delicious.

Sunday: Stake conference in the morning was really good. We also had a lunch appointment at the bishops house right after church. The food was so good and it was a nice time. Then we spent the rest of the night stopping by returning members and doing finding, before finally making it home.

It's definitely been a long long week. Changing areas and adding another companion during the middle of transfer makes for a bit of difficulties. But everything is going alright, and this week Elder Cook is visiting our mission so it will definitely be a huge spiritual boost to have an apostle speak to our mission. That's it from me this week. I would appreciate a little email from anyone who has time, it's always nice to hear from people I haven't heard from in a while. Thanks for all your support!

I got to see Mohammad at church! I taught him and he got baptized in Hastings and now he lives here.
