Conference Sunday Let's Goooooo!

The week absolutely flew by. We were so busy with all sorts of different things and it was just really good. Also the weather is cooling off a lot here which is pretty nice now that we made it through the hot summer, I can finally start to wear jackets and jumpers again. Here's my week though:

Tuesday (Oct 1): Well, we had zone conference today and it was pretty dang good.

We were able to receive a lot of great trainings and the main focus of zone conference was about our 7 aspirations as a mission. Also known as the "Magnificent 7"." Things like: Being obedient, teaching with scriptures, doing service, working hard, and stuff like that. It was a great zone conference and we also were able to see an original first edition copy of the Book of Mormon from one of the stake President's in our mission who owns one and came to share that with us. It was pretty neat!

Wednesday: It was such a quick day, in the morning my companion and I attended one of the district meetings in the zone because I guess that's what zone leaders do. After that meeting we did some finding with the Elders in that district and it was fun, we all went to McDonald's for lunch afterward. As we were traveling back to our area something pretty funny happened. We were on the train and there weren't any seats so we were just standing up talking, and when the train started accelerating I wasn't super balanced and I actually fell completely backwards into the arms of some people who had to catch me 😂 Wow it was super funny! We spent the rest of the day just grinding hard on the streets and doing our studies. We also saw a fight break out tonight so it was a pretty crazy day!

Thursday: Today was our district meeting so we had our usual routine of doing the meeting and then eating lunch together as a district. After that we stopped by the house of a recent convert and then we went home to do our study. We spent most the evening just street contacting and it was pretty chilly today. We were blessed though because some random person bought us some hot chocolate so we were able to just keep on going. Tonight pizza sounded so nice so we ordered in some Papa John's and it made for a great evening.

Friday: I had AP exchange today in Hyde Park and it was a pretty awesome day. I was with Elder Peters he's from Draper and loves baseball so we got to talk a little bit and I found out he played on the Sidewinders, a team we used to play a lot when I was younger. He's a year older than me though. But anyways we did a lot of finding today as well as taught a lesson to a cool Chinese guy. The best part of the day though was the fact that every Friday night from 6-8pm they play basketball with just a bunch of guys they invite. So I got to play ball for like 2 hours today and it was so much fun! Unfortunately towards the end of playing though I landed on someone's foot and I actually twisted my ankle pretty badly so now it's nice and swollen but hey, it was worth it for some solid basketball!
Basketball Injury

Tonight we had 8 missionaries in their flat so naturally everyone stayed up talking and didn't really go to sleep until like 1am. Let's just say it made for a long day tomorrow but boy it was a fun time!

Saturday: Everyone woke up bright and early for basketball at Hyde Park. The sad thing is, it was tough to walk on my ankle so I had to sit and watch. But it's all good I could watch basketball all day. But after that me and the other zone leader in my zone, Elder Hatch, had to travel back and meet our companions who were on exchange together. Then me and Elder Hatch actually had to spend about 2 hours working on some things that we had to prepare for our leadership meeting next week. Once that was all done I was finally able to go back to Stratford with Elder Hathaway and we did our studies. Then we tried to go out and do a little bit of finding before general conference but wow Saturday's are crazy at Stratford. There are so many random people preaching false doctrine and the philosophies of men on Saturdays. But it's all good. Some members invited us over to watch the Saturday morning session of conference even though it was at 5pm for us. We watched conference and then ate dinner with them. Conference was amazing and the food was good too. It was such a great night.

Sunday: Conference Sunday let's gooooo!! Wow it was so nice this Sunday we were just able to spend basically the whole day at the Hyde Park chapel watching conference. There were so many great talks and also, a temple in Taylorsville!! For lunch we just went back to the Whitechapel elders flat and whipped up some quick pasta that we could all enjoy. I hope everyone else enjoyed conference as much as I did. Conference weekend is no doubt my favourite thing as a missionary.

This upcoming week on Thursday I will hit my 1 year mark out on the mission. That is so crazy to me to think that I have spent an entire year already it feels like I just started. If there's one thing I have learned for sure over these past 12 months it is that God has a plan for each and everyone one of us, and he desires for us to be happy. Man is that they might have joy! Have a great week everyone. You guys are outstanding. Love y'all.
