2 Apostles in One Week
What a week! Just some spoilers, I got to witness 2 Apostles this week speaking in my chapel on 2 different days. Words can not express how amazing that was. And our week was pretty great too, it's been a highlight week in my mission no doubt!
Tuesday (Oct 22): Today we had our district meeting in the morning, then we headed out to teach a lesson to a pretty cool guy from Ghana. Then we went to the chapel and did some finding outside for around 2 hours before our next appointment. That was pretty good, and when it was over we went to Stratford to do a blitz in their area to help those young missionaries out a little bit, and then we came back to teach yet another lesson! After that our day was through and it was a really solid one.
Wednesday: Boy today was long! Our 3rd companion Elder Hatch actually had surgery in the morning so we had to be in central London to drop him off by 8. So we got up pretty early and began our commute. We dropped him off and he was with the doctor and President as well. We had to travel to another district meeting in the zone so that was cool. We did a bit of finding at a station then went to our lesson with a returning member that we had. Then we traveled back to the chapel so we could cook some dinner before having a bible study class with a few members of the ward.
Thursday: This morning, Elder Cook from the quorum of the 12 came to speak to our whole mission! Wow what an incredible devotional! We sang "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" as the opening song, then we sang our mission song "Jerusalem" and after that he spoke to us for a while. Our closing song was "I Stand All Amazed." Let me just tell you that I cried in pretty much every song we sang and also when he was speaking, thankfully I came prepared with tissues because the spirit hit me like a truck! It was such a special experience to be gathered all together as a mission and have an apostle speak to us. The rest of the day we just did weekly planning and also a bit of finding but we were pretty motivated after our morning devotional so it was awesome. And we even closed the night out by cooking Chicken Alfredo and I can just say this was one of my favourite days ever as a missionary.
Friday: I went on exchange with one of the district leaders in our zone today and I spent the day in his area and that was so fun. His area is the North part of London so there were a few pretty cool things to see as we were traveling between appointments.
We also had a feast of 5 Guys for dinner because he had never eaten it before.
5 guys is wayyy better over here because there's not very many good food places so here it is like pure gold. Also we had the new Book of Mormon video come out today so we had a short little movie night at the flat. Exchanges are pretty cool!
Saturday: We exchanged back with our companions this morning and then Elder Hathaway and I got some lunch. We taught that guy from Ghana again that we saw on Tuesday, and yeah, he's pretty cool. He just loved every scripture we shared with him from the Book of Mormon and now he's on date for baptism the first week of December. It was a bomb lesson for real. Then we were able to head to a members house to do service to help her out. We spent a couple hours over there, it's been a long time since I've had the opportunity for some service so I was extremely happy. Between that and the traveling it was about time to head home and make dinner for the evening.
Sunday: What a day! They had a big Roots tech meeting here in London over the weekend about family history, and Elder Bednar was visiting for that event. Well guess who happened to come to our sacrament meeting in Lea Valley?! That's right, Elder Bednar was in my freaking sacrament meeting!!!! Oh my heavens wow what a feeling that was. He and his wife spoke to our ward and that was just incredible. Have I ever said to anyone that he is my favourite speaker? Cuz wow he's amazing. I got to shake his hand and I listened to him speak and I am just amazed at how lucky I am. So yeah that was church, pretty cool. Then after church we did a comp study and went to a members house for a dinner appointment. She's this Brazilian lady and dang she can cook some good food. I'm telling you this day was just so good. After that amazing DA we had to head back home to have a DLC call to council about some things in the zone and then that was our Sunday. Can't ask for much better than that!
Can I just say that the Prophet and Apostles are literally representatives of Jesus Christ. These men hold the priesthood keys and the Christlike attributes necessary to direct the whole Earth. For everyone who's reading this I want you to know, that without a doubt. I sustain these leaders as prophets, Seers, and revelators. I know without a doubt that this is really Jesus Christ's church on the earth, and that we are so blessed to be a part of it. What a time to be alive!
Love you all,
