Fasting to Show Gratitude

This week zoomed by and I'm really glad. I love the weeks that go by quickly because those are usually the good ones.

Tuesday (July 30): District Council baby, such a good way to start out the week. Afterwards we were going to get lunch together like usual but one of the companionships had to leave so we just came home and ate lunch at home. Then we went to have a lesson with Zane and wow those lessons with her are always some of the best lessons ever. I'm glad we ended up postponing her baptism because now her understanding is so much better. After that we spent some time outside and then we did studies and had some dinner.
Here's us with Zane, one of the coolest people I've met on my mission

Wednesday: Today me and Elder Bakman did a 24 hour fast for his mom who was having surgery, so we had nothing food or drink wise today. We did have an appointment with another guy we have been teaching a lot lately named Frank. To be honest it was one of the easiest fasts I've done I didn't even really feel it that much and it was good.

Thursday: Today we met one of the recent converts in the morning. After we met with him we travelled to an appointment to where a member took us out to get a late lunch. She's the one who only speaks Spanish so I say what I can but for the most part I just sit there awkwardly and enjoy my Chinese food haha.

She is really nice though I know that for sure. Elder Bakman called his mom to see how his mom was doing and how the surgery went. From what we know so far she is doing well. Tonight we stopped by the house of the member who gave us food and we headed home. It was a solid day with some good food.

Friday: We had a great day today. Started out by teaching a lesson with some returning members and then we came home to eat lunch. Then we met with Zane to talk about her baptism and she is definitely going to get baptized on next Sunday. Afterwards we headed home for lunch and studies then we went to visit a struggling returning member with the bishop, she had just gotten out of the hospital. We spent some time at her home before we came back home for the night.

Saturday: Looking back on today when I reached the end I realize that it didn't feel like we did all too much today. The main thing to talk about is how we started a 24 hour mission fast tonight at 5pm. Me and Elder Bakman had some nice KFC before we started it to try and fill ourselves up as much as possible. And in the evening as well we had another lesson with Frank who is also going to get baptized on Sunday!! Woot woot!! Next weekend will be fantastic.

Sunday: So as I mentioned we did a 24 hour fast this weekend as a mission. The purpose of this fast comes from Alma 45:1 where it talks about how the people gave thanks unto God and did so in much fasting and prayer. So as a mission we decided to do this fast and just focus on showing gratitude and recognizing our blessings. We specifically focused on in every single prayer only offering up our gratitude and saying things we are grateful for, and not asking for anything at all. Regardless of what the situation was we were only going to say things we were thankful for. It was such an awesome experience and it helped me recognize just how much God cares about me and about each of us. He is our Father and he loves us perfectly. The rest of the day was filled with the usual Sunday night routine. Studies, planning, and dinner. Not a bad way to close out the week.

This upcoming week will be the last week of the transfer so the next time you hear from me I will have news about me and my companion and how our next 6 week's will be, maybe we will have a change and maybe we won't. Guess we'll see! Love y'all and I'm thankful for you. Thanks to everyone who sends me an email I love to hear from you! Until next week.
