The Miracle of Missing our Bus
So we had a pretty cool miracle happen this week and I figured I would put it at the beginning of the email for those of you who don't actually read the whole thing so that way you won't miss it. On Thursday we just finished up our last appointment of the night and we were about to catch our bus home but we literally missed it by seconds. We were both pretty frustrated because now we had to take a train and then walk a little ways so the journey was longer. However, on the train there were these 2 guys and 1 girl who asked if we were from America. I responded by saying I was but my companion wasn't. Turns out one of them had been having questions about the church recently so we taught all 3 of them a nice lesson while on the journey home. None of them lived in our area but still it was great to see how God needed to place us in the path of these people to help answer their questions. I know that everything happens for a reason and that God's plan is always better than our plan. If we trust his ways we can find answers to our prayers or even be the answer to someone else's prayer! Anyways that's my fun story now here's what we did this week:
Tuesday (July 9): District Council this morning, always a good time and we set some pretty good goals and plans as a district. Then we got lunch altogether and travelled to our lesson with our friend Zane who's progressing nicely. We read a chapter in the Book of Mormon with her and helped her understand. Then we travelled to the chapel because some missionaries in Germany are teaching his Sister that lives in Germany at the moment and he was able to join their lesson with her on a video call and I thought that was really neat. Then we headed home and studied then ate dinner.
Wednesday: We did our studies in the morning today and after that we went to a members house from Italy and he is so cool. He ordered pizza for us and we got to know him a little better. I'm pretty sure this dude has got quite a bit of money cuz he was telling us all about places he has travelled and visited recently. Super cool guy though. Then we did some finding for like 3 hours which felt pretty long, afterwards we headed home to eat dinner. Today felt so long in the moment but then looking back it seemed like it went quickly, pretty weird to be honest.
Thursday: Today was quite busy but it was good. We had 2 different lessons at the beginning of the day, one with a recent convert and one with a less active member. They are both really nice and we get to see them pretty often. After those we headed home and did some comp study and language study before going to another appointment with the Colombian family in the ward.
They always have food for us when we get there too so we were pretty stoked to visit them. After that appointment was when our miracle happened that I mentioned at the beginning of the email. It was a good way to end the night.
Friday: So we started out our day by doing a district blitz. Basically we all just get together as a district and go finding in the same place, we did that for 2 hours in Stratford. When we finished we got some Subway for lunch and this really nice old lady gave me a coupon to use. I love speaking to people sometimes they'll hook you up haha. After that Elder Bakman and I headed home to do our studying before the lessons we were going to have in the evening. So first we met with Zane and that was awesome. She is totally ready to be baptized and we are just trying to help her understand that and help resolve any concerns she might have. She loves the Book of Mormon and she even told us about 2 experiences she had where reading it helped her in her day and that was really amazing to hear about. After that lesson we travelled to another one and on the train there we sat next to these 3 super super drunk guys and they were just heckling us the whole time it was so annoying. They kept asking us random stuff and offering us beer and wine and it was pretty tough. But it gave me an opportunity to work on my patience and I'm grateful for that. After that lesson we were able to come home just in time before 9pm, then we ate some dinner and called it a night.
Saturday: Our day started off with a lesson teaching 2 less active members from Russia. After that we spent some time finding people before heading back for a late lunch. We then went to visit one of the recent converts and spent some time at his home. Afterwards we headed back to our flat to grab a few things we needed then we went back out to do more street contacting. Saturday street contacting is always a challenge for many different reasons, but it wasn't too bad this time around. Then we came back to study and have dinner. It was a pretty good Saturday.
Sunday: Church was pretty good today. Nothing too special to report there it was an average Sunday. Zane wasn't able to come to church because she was working but we were able to meet with her in the afternoon and that was really nice. She's doing great! Also we had some good studies today and weekly planning. For dinner I made tacos and it was so tasty! Really not much happened today honestly but it was a good Sabbath Day!
The week went by really fast and it was a good one. It's unbelievable we are halfway through July already! It just blows my mind! I love each one of you and hope you have a good week.
