100 Degrees 🥵

Our week reached some insanely hot temperatures and it made for a few really long days. We had highs and lows this week as well but that's just how life is. Especially on the mission:
Just waiting for a bus
Tuesday (July 23): Started off the day and the week with district council. It's always a lot of fun. After that we had to stay longer to have a meeting with the other District Leaders in the zone just about our plan as a zone moving into August. It was good but took a while. When we finally travelled back we did some finding before going home to study and eat dinner.

Wednesday: In the morning my companion had a doctor's appointment in central London so that took up the whole first half of the day. Although when we travelled home Buckingham palace was on the way in between the doctors and the station we headed to. So we snapped a couple pictures and headed on our way.
Buckingham Palace

Then we travelled to a lesson with Zane where we really focused about teaching prophets and I think it was a good lesson. Also something funny that happened today was while we were traveling on the train a guy wanted to take a picture with us and we said sure. Then he asked us if we were headed to the theatre and how long we have been in the Book of Mormon musical, when we told him we were real missionaries he got super awkward and like didn't want to talk to us anymore haha.

Thursday: Apparently today was the record high temperature London has ever had (That's what a member told us they heard on the news) so yeah... we were dying. It was 100 degrees Fahrenheit and combined with the humidity man it was rough!! Thankfully we did have something called 3 week meeting today, where all the new missionaries and their trainers come into the mission office for some training and the new missionaries get interviewed.

So that was fun. Although the travel on the train home was absolutely ridiculous and the time that we did spend outside we just were straight up dripping in sweat. What made things worse was by the time we got back to the flat and tried to get ready for bed it was 89 degrees in the flat!!! I could not sleep at all and it was horrible. All the windows open and all our fans blowing on us and just no luck. It was a really long night.

Friday: So today was kinda meh. In the morning we had a lesson with some returning members and then we had lunch before we travelled to the park where we usually teach Zane so she could have her baptismal interview. Unfortunately there were some things that she didn't mention to us so she can't get baptized quite yet but she is definitely wanting to get baptized soon! Please keep her in your prayers. The rest of the day we didn't do much. It was Elder Bakman's father's birthday so he called his dad and we did some studies.

Saturday: Another ok day, it wasn't terrific but it also wasn't too bad. We studied in the morning and then we went out and did finding before we had 2 lessons in the evening time. One was with a recent convert and the other was with a friend we are teaching. Both lessons went great and actually the lesson with a friend was super good. He wanted to know the things he had to do to be baptized and so we layed out all the commandments right then and there and he was willing to live all of them. Didn't have any problems at all. It was so so nice! He has already been to church like 5 times we just haven't been able to teach him during the week but let's hope we can see him more and help him to be baptized.

Sunday: This Sunday was really good. Zane and our other friend both came to church, after church me and Elder Bakman travelled home to eat like the fastest lunch ever we only had 15 mins, then we went back to the chapel because the other ward that shares the building with us was having a baptism and we invited Zane to come see it and she wanted to. So yeah that was a super awesome thing for her. Funny thing is that during the baptism, it was a member of the ward who was performing the baptism and he actually dropped the guy he was baptizing in the font when he was going down 😂😂 it was really funny honestly everyone was laughing (Don't worry no one got hurt). Also President and Sister Checketts were there at the baptism and so we got to say hello to them and President even told me "I hope that didn't scare your friend too much" 😂 man it was good fun. The rest of the day we spent planning, studying, and eating dinner.

Got to see President on Sunday cuz he came to a baptism at our chapel

This week I felt empathy for all the missionaries who serve in really hot climates throughout the world. Sometimes I complain about it being too cold or too rainy here in England but after this last week I realized that I would much rather have those weather conditions than to have super hot conditions all the time. I felt a little more thankful for what I do have! I love you all and hope you learned something new this week. God loves you and if we trust in his plan and in his timing we will see great blessings! Dueces! ✌🏼

My district

Some of the members of the ward as well as the byu students who are here for 2 months that attend our ward. Basically the white people are BYU students and the African people are the ones in Stratford
My last time seeing Elder Hori before he leaves in 2 weeks. He was the companion I was with for the shortest amount of time but he was so great and we were always happy and having a good time.
