Rashid Got Baptized!!!

What a phenomenal week here in Stratford. I had my second baptism this week 🎉 and I also had one of the most spiritual moments of my mission on Friday. I felt so blessed this week and I'm excited for you all to hear about it!

Tuesday (June 4): Well today was pretty decent. It started out with district council and that was fantastic. Then we got lunch as a district and we had to travel to what was supposed to be a lesson, although that didn't end up happening. So we did some contacting and stopped by a couple members who were nearby. And tonight we had to go give a member a blessing and after we did that we had to come home and we barely managed to make it by 9 but thankfully we did.

The best district in the ELM
Wednesday: Today was a really fantastic day. We had super MLC so all the zone leaders and district leaders in the mission gathered in Hyde Park.
Most of the original Hogg zone
Some missionaries from my MTC group!

The whole focus was about being a more Christlike Leader, and following his example in all that we do, both as missionaries and leaders. I learned a lot today and was very happy about the meeting. Then tonight when I got back I was able to call my little brother Mason and tell him happy birthday. It was wonderful!

Thursday: Well this morning we went out to do a bit of finding, and that was the only free time we had in the day to do finding but unfortunately it was raining, so it was a bit rough. Funny enough the whole time we were inside teaching lessons it wasn't raining but when we were outside that's when it was. Today we also got to see our friend Rashid who is getting baptized on Sunday and we are just so excited for him! He is absolutely golden and just so prepared and ready to be baptized. After meeting with him for a bit we went to teach a recent convert who is 9 years old and she is so amazing as well. Then we traveled home and stopped to get Kebab for dinner so that I could Kebabtize Elder Wood since he hasn't ever tried it. Great way to end the night!

Friday: Wow, today was such a special day for me. Today we were busy with lessons and we even had our first dinner appointment of the transfer where I ate none other than rice with fish 🤢 needless to say it was a tough experience for me. But anyways, the reason why it was such a good day is because Rashid had his baptismal interview. He passed it and he is good to go for baptism on Sunday. After the interview we were talking to him and asking him about his programme for the baptism and out of nowhere he came over to hug me and he just started crying on my shoulder. Rashid is 67 years old and has been searching for the truth ever since he was 12. He was so happy to know that he has finally found the church in his life and that was such a tender moment for me to be able to experience that. It was one of the times of my life where I felt the spirit touch my heart so beautifully it's hard to describe. But I truly felt the love of God today both for Rashid, for me, and for all of his children. I am so grateful for that moment it really made my whole week.

Saturday: Nothing super exciting today just another busy day with lots of appointments as it tends to be here in London. Although we did have an awesome lesson with a guy who has been trying to quit smoking weed and we show up at his house to have a lesson and he pulls out this bag with green stuff in it. He hands it over to us and says he is ready to quit and so we all flushed it down the toilet together. Haha wow it was so fun to dispose of marijuana lol 😂 And tonight was fantastic because we got to spend time with an awesome part member family. So today was a great day as well.

Sunday: Woohoo Rashid got baptized today!!! It was a wonderful Sunday. Elder Wood performed the baptism and I performed the confirmation. We did it all after church so we had quite a few members present as well which was really good. And something funny that happened was our closing song was hymn number 2, the spirit of God. Well when we were singing the last verse the fire alarm started to go off. I guess you could say his spirit truly was burning like a fire (just a little joke for ya) haha but no really it was super funny. Luckily it was just a false alarm, everyone was smiling though it was pretty fun.
Rashid's baptism!!!
I know that God cares for each of us and wants to bless us. As we go out of our way to help other people we can help bless their lives and receive blessings of joy and happiness in our own. To quote President Spencer W. Kimball:

“God does notice us, and he watches over us. But it is usually through another person that he meets our needs. Therefore, it is vital that we serve each other in the kingdom."

I am grateful for the opportunity I have to be an instrument in God's hands. This is his work, and we are his children. I hope you all remember that. Until next week!
