Staying Positive
This week was pretty decent. Kinda tough, but there was also some good. It's just all about staying positive though!
Tuesday (Feb 5): Wow I was so sore and tired this morning because of basketball yesterday, and we had service planned with Brother Hobbs all day today so I was ready for some more great physical work. Man it was such a great time as always. Today we were able to help build a bit of a wall as well as take down some trees to clear up space in their back garden. The weather wasn't rainy so it held up nicely for us. We had some delicious sandwiches for lunch and bangers and mash for dinner. It was fantastic. Then when we got home we had our companionship study and Elder Hori's language study and called it a night!
Wednesday: Woke up even more sore than yesterday aha. It's Gucci though because I love service and I know that when I'm feeling sore that I worked hard. Man today felt forever long, we just did finding, finding, and more finding. It was extremely foggy with a bit of rain so there was hardly anyone out in town. Days like these really seem to drag on.
Thankfully I had dinner to look forward to because I have really been craving chicken alfredo so I made my own makeshift version and oh boy it tasted really good. I'm trying to become a little bit better of a cook so I can enjoy food a little more on the mission and who knows maybe even prepare myself to make someone's life better in the future 💁♂️
Thursday: Today we had our interviews as a zone with President and Sister Checketts and we also had some really great trainings by the AP's about finding and member missionary work. We only left the flat at about 7:15am and then made it home by like 6:30pm and then headed up to the chapel for young mens where we played risk and it was a blast. We had pizza and everything. All about today was great except for spending roughly 4 hours on a train.
Friday: Oh my days the weather today was atrocious. Windy, rainy, cold, you name it and we experienced it. We spent most of the day outside and it was just rubbish. We did a bit of finding as well as stopping by some less active members to invite them to come to church. We did have some Subway for lunch though and it was really tasty. I just wish they had Swiss cheese here in England but they don't. It has been so hard to find new investigators this week because of the weather. Really this was just a long wet day but we made it through alright.
Saturday: Wow today was just crazy. We started out having a lesson with the craziest guy I have ever met. He was nuts. At the beginning he wanted to cast out all our devils and he then asked us if we spoke in tongues, as he proceeded to "speak in tongues" but really he just mumbled a bunch of random crap. He told us he was the reincarnation of Jesus and then rubbed oil all over our heads to "annoint us to be higher than God." Needless to say we will not be going back to his house again. Then after that we actually had a good lesson with someone else that went pretty well and he plans on coming to church. And I thought I was gonna blow away while I was outside today it was probably 30 mile per hour wind.
Also yesterday I found out you can by 12 cookies from Subway for only 3 pounds so of course I had to buy some today. It's something that I plan on doing a couple times a transfer probably because Subway cookies are the next closest thing to Chick fil A ones and I enjoy them. Today was one of the craziest days of my mission but it was a lot of fun haha.
Sunday: This Sunday was pretty good. I gave another talk, this time about missionary work and I think it went really well. After church we went back to a members house for lunch and I got to sit by their fire place while they made the food and I loved it. We had a big lunch with pork chops, vegetables, and some good dessert as well. It was also our privilege to be able to take the sacrament to 2 different members again today because they were unable to come to church, I always enjoy that and getting to spend time with members. Sundays are always really great and this one was no different!
