Breaking News: Calling Home

Tough week again, but it's still alright!

Tuesday (Feb 12): This morning we had to leave the flat at 8 to get to Woolwich by 10:30 for our exchange with the zone leaders. It's always a fun time on the train to London in the morning. I was on exchange with Elder Hogg again which was a blast. We had the car as well which makes things even more enjoyable. We did finding to start things off and I love finding in their area because it's a lot of black people and they are actually nice and willing to listen unlike the stuck up English folk. To end the day we did have to go to ward council though which is already boring enough in my own ward let alone at a different ward haha. I had lots of fun today, it's also nice to switch things up, it was also a party because we had 8 Elders in the flat that day haha. Good times!

Wednesday: Wow what a crazy day, we had to leave the zone leaders flat early to get to district meeting and we got to ride with the zone leaders. I fell asleep on the way there (no surprise) and it was a great nap. When district meeting was over me and Elder Hori were getting ready to travel back to Hastings when all the trains to Hastings got cancelled and they had to be replaced by a bus... so we had a nice 2 and a half hour bus ride back to our area, it made for a 2nd great nap that day!

Haha, when we finally got back home we got everything put away and made a few phone calls and then went and stopped by a former investigator who wanted us to come visit but she was a little bit weird. All in all today was super unexpected but that's what missionary work is all about! (Speaking of unexpected wow the change that happens on Friday was a real shocker!)

Great sunsets this week!

Thursday: We were so blessed with absolutely gorgeous weather today, like it was amazing! We did some finding this morning on the street but no luck. Then we came back to the flat to eat some lunch and Brother Hobbs picked us up to go do some service at his house. It was great like always and Me and Elder Hori had a lot of fun. By the time it started to get dark we were going to have some dinner but Brother Hobbs was going out with his wife for Valentine's day so he bought us each our own pizza and dropped us off at our flat haha. So me and Elder Hori celebrated Valentine's day with a nice pizza dinner. It was a great day.

Friday: Oh my goodness today was rough, we got yelled at a few times and we spent a lot of time finding but still haven't found a single new friend all week. There were also 2 lessons that got cancelled today which was fun and we wanted to do tracting tonight but no success there either. Then later tonight we found out about the announcement of missionaries being able to call home on P days and that is mind blowing!!!

Then we made some tacos for dinner and celebration and it was just delicious!

Saturday: Another fun day full of grinding the streets some more. Literally this whole week has been so challenging to do missionary work. Nothing seems to be working and I feel like we have tried almost everything this week. We also tried to stop by some less active and invite them to church but no one was even home. Thankfully we had a dinner appointment tonight so it was nice to finish off spending time with a few members, I really needed something positive after such a rough day.

Sunday: This Sunday was super great! We didn't think that anyone was going to come to church but then a lady just showed up and apparently she has been taught by missionaries about 2 years ago and now she wants to have lessons again. She loved church and wanted us to come tonight to teach her so we did and it was great. Also we got invited over for lunch and it was a great time. Seriously today was a much needed miracle to end such a tough week.

Editorial by mom:  We also got the announcemement that missionaries would be allowed to call home each week on Friday.  It was mind blowing!  We thought Stockton would call but we weren't sure of the details so there was a lot of anticipation leading up to Monday morning.  He called through Facebook messenger which worked great.  We talked for about 40 minutes and it was not even painful to hang up because we knew we would be talking to him often instead of every 6 months.  It is such a blessing and I think we will enjoy this extra communication so much!
