Christmas

This week was super great filled with lots of awesome experiences and Christmas!

Tuesday (December 18): Today felt forever long! The reason is because we started serving with Brother Hobbs at 7:30 This morning. So we got to work really early, we served with him until about 2 and we had pizza for lunch. Them we came back and did our studies and went to visit a less active member family and they have some kids that are absolutely insane! They wanted to feed so they ordered guess what... pizza! Haha it was tough to eat it all but you gotta do what you gotta do. Then we finished our day by coming up with the programs for Mohammed's baptism on Saturday!

Wednesday: Today was certainly a drag knowing the fact that I would be going to the temple tomorrow. For some reason I had weak in the knees stuck in my head all day lol. This morning we did some finding in the rain, and we taught a pretty cool guy named David. Tonight we didn't have any solid plans and then we got a text from the Meachums inviting us over for dinner so that was pretty sweet. I'm just stoked knowing I get to go to the London Temple tomorrow!

Thursday: Wow I have been looking forward to going to this temple and boy was it amazing! We had to wake up at 4:45 This morning though to get ourselves ready and on to the train in time to make it there. We spent about 3 hours on the train. When we finally arrived to the station we were supposed to get picked up at we were about an hour early and turns out it was only a 45 minute walk to the temple so we went for a sweet temple hike in a full on suit it was a lot of fun!

Then we had a nice Christmas devotional and enjoyed being in the temple. We had about 50 missionaries in the celestial room after our session and it was such a special moment. The spirit was magnified so much and it was one of the coolest feelings ever. Then we got to enjoy a nice dinner of ham and potatoes and vegetables and then we were on our way home and got back around 9:30. It was one of the best days ever!

Friday: Finally made it to the shortest day of the year. Now it will thankfully start to get lighter and lighter outside every single day. After our usual routine of talking to people on the streets until lunch time we stopped by to see a member and make sure he was doing ok because he was in the hospital last week and so it was nice to visit with him for just a little bit. Afterwards we travelled to a dinner appointment and man it was delicious it was basically pot roast and I loved it. Then tonight we listened to some John Bytheway and today was honestly really good.

Saturday: This morning we were on the streets and were so blessed with lovely weather. In the afternoon we taught a lady for the first time and we really felt like we should teach the plan of salvation and I truly think that it went really well. Then we got to travel to the chapel and start filling up the font for Mohammed's baptism and boy was that a struggle. The water wasn't warm and we couldn't figure it out so we had to call our bishop to have him come help get things sorted. The baptism was super awesome and then we got a ride home and had a grilled cheese feast which is always fun.
Mohammed's baptism!

Sunday: We had the special Christmas program and it was so good today! We sang 3 songs as a choir and there were lots of other good musical items. Then we had Mohammed get confirmed today! Afterwards we had a wonderful munch and mingle and the food was great.
Our ward goes all out

Today we got loads of food and gifts from members and it was crazy.
All the food we got from members

All our gifts

We had dinner at a members house today but it was basically frozen pizza but they both had jalapenos on them so it was really quite spicy!

Monday: Christmas Eve! But to be honest it didn't feel like Christmas eve until we went to some members later in the day and we had really good food and played a couple fun little games. We had a super awesome night doing a little Christmas eve thing on our own where we read and watched the nativity.

Tuesday: Wow Christmas was so awesome and I'm so glad I got to spend it with Elder Stoddard we had such a great day. In the morning we opened our gifts and then we had to walk to Bishops home since there was no public transportation today and they were busy in the morning. The highlight was without a doubt video calling with my family. It was so crazy and it was so awesome as well!

Then we went to another members house afterward and ate basically the same meal haha but it's alright because it was delicious. When we came home we pretty much just cleaned up and organized all the different things we got today.

It feels so weird having a preparation day on Wednesday but it's awesome because this week ahead is going to be pretty short. So I'll talk to you all on Monday!

Hey mom! Yeah it was so awesome to talk to you guys yesterday. Christmas wasn't quite the same here I definitely missed the family traditions and stuff a lot but we still had a really fun day and I enjoyed it. Hopefully you guys weren't too sad afterwards because I was a little bit but definitely not as much as I thought so. Now the next challenge is getting back into missionary mode which will only take a day or 2 and then I'll be back in the routine of things. I love you so much!!

Will you go shopping today to take advantage of the great deals? Did you like your sweater? It’s hard for me to order online on not know the texture and such. Yes we actually did do a little bit of shopping and looking around and I found a really nice watch that I liked which was on sale for only 45 pounds and so that's all I got. The sweater is nice yeah, it is a little big but I will wash it and hopefully it shrinks a little bit.

Well, who doesn’t need a new watch? 😜 You did have a lot of gifts from members. I saw all the presents wrapped but what was in them? Do you you know if and how Mohammed celebrated Christmas? I’m guessing that is a new experience for him.  We mostly got food from them but someone gave us a nose trimmer haha, and lots of people gave us shower gel and socks and a few ties as well! Honestly I don't think Mohammed did much for Christmas. On Sunday he took a train up to London and he is there until Friday so I'm not sure.

We also got bonus news and pictures from Elder and Sister Phillips:

Just to let you know alls going swell, here are a few shots of the devotional the Zones participated in yesterday. The reason he's sitting facing the rest of the Missionaries is was one of six readers in a Christmas Readers Theater about the Savior that President Checketts wrote when he was on his mission in California in the 70s. Elder Orchard did very well.

Elder Orchard and his companion engaged in a very old form of Missionary travel. Ask him about getting from the train station in Lingfield to the Temple grounds.

You, Lee, Jenny and Russ have plenty to be exceptably proud of.

Hope you're all well.
